Sometimes, profound thoughts come from spelling errors...
”We also need to understand something that quantum physics points out — that things don’t exist as they appear. Simple investigation of physical things reveals that they consist of particles. There is no independent entity to be found. Negative emotions are based on the appearance that things exist independently from their own side. Positive emotions like compassion are developed on the basis of reason.”
– Dalai Lama
So I was going to write about the Dalai Lama and the post of the day from his Facebook page (see above) with a nod to notable astrophysicist Carl Sagan (see below).
“The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself.”
―Carl Sagan
I started typing my title and that's when it happened. I wrote start instead of stars.
But was it a mistake?
I, like many others in these times, am having to re-invent and adjust to new ways of learning/working and playing.
At 45 it's daunting.
I thought I had a sure path of employment – 15 years at the same job. That wasn't the case, and things have changed (as they do) and I am having to evolve (as we do). But why does it have to be daunting?
If we can get behind Carl Sagan's "The cosmos is within us." and all the particles from which we are made are also all around us, and add The Dalai Lama's "Negative emotions are based on the appearance that things exist independently from their own side." then there shouldn't be any barrier to our success other than our own negative perceptions (or the negative perseptions of others). We are all literally and figuratively made up of infinite starts.
You are a seed. You contain everything in the universe and it's up to you to manifest all the best or the worst. Today I choose the best.
I read the news every day and it is so many layers of horrid. I would put my head in the sand and wish for days when we were ignorant of how truly terrible mankind can be - to animals, nature and each other, but I have to keep hope. My hope is that we collectively see our infinite capabilities and that we are all one large batch of star stuff - connected by our particles.
I see others keeping that hope in posts about how completely altruistic wearing a mask is.
"I do it for you, because I know I could make you sick."
We are all one. Choose whatever religious/spiritual/scientific teaching you want to underline this sentiment with. Then choose to exude positivity.
Today me and my particles are going to start with a hot cup of liquid particles.
All the love, as always (to all your particles)
Christine
P.S. In no way am I suggesting that the "power of positivity" can over come clinical depression or other serious emotional/chemical/genetic issues - that's why there are medications that have been created by great people, who were filled with a hope to help heal others.
