I reconnected with a buddy of mine a little while ago. Sure we follow each other on the instagrams and comment now and then and have many things in common including the fact that her maiden name is the same as my gran's maiden name (we are probably cousins) but the one thing that really ties us is our love for JB Fletcher. Yes, Murder, She Wrote. (ps, pic of my grandmother)
My friend invited me to her fan group and I was thrilled. It was like grade 3 when you’re finally invited to the birthday party of your dreams. (this pic might be closer to grade 4)
Here’s how it works – we watch the same episode at our own pace and then come together to discuss it. Now, my bffs in high school did a similar thing with the original 90121. We would meet for breakfast, before school started, to discuss the high lights of the previous night’s episode inserting our predictions for the following week. I thought we were pretty hard core at this review stuff. Well well well… in the I Heart JB Fletcher Group (copyright not pending) the discussion is so deep. I didn’t really know what to expect on my first meeting. Was I ever in for a surprise! Not only did we discuss how awesome Mrs. Fletcher is (and her love for her late husband Frank) there are categories to rate how awesome the episode was. We discuss solvability…. How easy was the murder to solve? Did you guess the killer right? Motive? Etc. There is discussion on Jessica’s wardrobe, what was the best line, her facial expressions and so on. Now, that seems pretty ‘normal’ enough but check this… we also discuss the score. Like a hockey game? NO! The musical score. What parts stood out? We discuss guest stars too. *** SPOILER ALERT! *** Did you know Jessica Walter (yes, the mom from Arrested Development) appears as a murder victim (season 2) and a murderer (season 3)? I was so excited to see her. PLUS talk about that terrific cross over with Magnum PI! Too FUN! (is it ok to say “too fun” when discussing murders?)
I might be hooked.
What's not to love?! There's so much to enjoy including the cute town of Cabot Cove, Amos and Seth, the fact that there's always a murder wherever Jessica is. Come on!
I loved watching Murder, She Wrote as a kid and I feel that initial love has propelled me in to a mild addiction to JB Fletch. I haven’t watched an episode of The Office before bed in a long time. I was saying to the family the other day how this show doesn’t have major sex scenes, swearing and how it is a pretty wholesome show. Ella piped up and said “Yeah… except for the murders.” RIGHT. There’s that.
I may have gotten Rick on the Murder, She Wrote scene too. Last Sunday, after dinner, he said “You know what? I think it would be beneficial to watch a show together… something where people are breaking the commandments and then other really smart people help solve the problem.” GUYS! I may have fallen in love all over again. The best part is there are SO MANY SEASONS!!
So, I’ll be over here being lulled to sleep by the sounds of the coyotes, my husband’s snoring and the beautiful tones of Murder, She Wrote.
